Over the weekend, our Grips BJJ competition team competed at Grappling Industries Brisbane, one of the largest events on the calendar for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Queensland. With athletes from across the state and beyond, the standard of competition was high and the atmosphere was full of energy.

The Grips team demonstrated outstanding resilience, sportsmanship, and determination throughout the day. Each competitor stepped onto the mats ready to test their skills, support their teammates, and represent the club with pride.

Special mentions include:

  • Chernaya, who secured a gold medal with a series of impressive performances.

  • Tala, who showed great courage and composure competing in her first ever tournament.

  • Matilda and Ruby, who fought through challenging divisions and displayed both skill and heart against strong opposition.

These results highlight not only the talent within the team but also the benefits of hard work, consistent training, and the willingness to embrace challenges. For some it was their first step into competition, while for others it was an opportunity to build on past experience and push to the next level.

The entire club is proud of the effort shown by each competitor. Success in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is measured not only by medals, but by the lessons learned, the confidence gained, and the growth achieved through competition.

We look forward to seeing our athletes continue to develop as they prepare for future events, and we thank all families and supporters who contributed to making the weekend a success.
